Alison Kendall is a mixed media artist, designer, and mother living in Fairfax, CA. Her work is inspired by many years spent working along the rocky shores of western North America cataloging the biodiversity of seaweeds and invertebrates in and along the ocean. These experiences illuminated the rich complexity of natural systems, and compelled her to question how the patterns in nature intersect with those in human-designed (artificial) systems. Do relationships in a coastal tide pool resemble linkages within a social media platform? Are the insights found in one applicable to the other? How can these questions help visualize what connects seemingly unrelated points together, and what happens when connections are lost?
